Inside a live kitchen: the counter template, and a decision due Wednesday.
Once a month we publish one Friday Report from a live project, names removed, with notes on why each line is there. This is October's.
Schedule and budget, first
The report opens with two words and a phrase: On track and On contract · nothing pending. They're first because they're what the owner is actually asking every Friday, and burying them under photos would be a kind of hiding.
Done this week
Cabinets set and levelled. Counter template taken Tuesday at 10:00. Backsplash tile delivered and checked against the approved sample. The photos are from the same three angles as week 5, so the room visibly moves.
Discovered this week: nothing
This line exists even when it's empty. If it ever disappeared, you'd wonder. "Nothing" is a report, too.
The decision due Wednesday
Cabinet pull finish — brushed brass or matte black — by Wednesday, so the hardware order lands before paint. Decisions carry a date because a decision without one quietly becomes a delay with the owner's name on it, and that isn't fair.
Why it's signed
Every report is signed by the person running the build, and you reply to it directly. There's no "updates@" address. If the report says Tuesday, a person said Tuesday.
